Filippo Perocco | conductor
Filippo Perocco obtained his degree in Organ and Organ Composition at the Conservatoire "B. Marcello" in Venice, where he also got a first-class degree in Composition under the guidance of Riccardo Vaglini.
He was awarded a price at the National Organ Contest "Città di Viterbo" (1997), at the Composition Contest A.GI.MUS. (1998) and at the International Interpretation Contest "F. Schubert" (1999). He participated at the 40° and 41° "Ferienkurse von neue Musik Darmstadt" (2000-2002), following several composition workshops (S. Sciarrino, T. Hosokawa, O. Neuwirth, M. Levinas, T. Murail., W. Rihm) and collaborating with the Resonanz Ensemble. He has also frequented contemporary organ literature interpretation seminars with Z. Szathmáry. During ‘Compositori a confronto' 2002 e 2003 (Reggio Emilia) he participated in seminars of S. Bussotti, G. Manzoni, N. Sani, A. Solbiati, G. Taglietti and G. Verrando.
After being selected by the Gaudeamus Foundation, by the Internationales Forum für Kultur und Wirtschaft (Dresden) and by Acanthes, his work was ordered and performed by Holland Symphonia, Dresdner Sinfonikern, Young Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Filarmonica Veneta, Ensemble Vocal Modern, IXION ensemble (London), ensemble Aleph (Paris), Vokalensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Trio KAIDA (Amsterdam), by the ASTRA Chamber Choir (Melbourne) and COROinCANTO (Treviso). His work has been broadcasted on the radio (Radio Belgrade, the Dutch NPS, SBS Melbourne, BBC, RAI Radio3, Polski Radio).
In July 2006 he was Composer in Residence at the European Centre for the Arts "KunstForum Hellerau" in Dresden. In 2008 he received the Affiliated Italian Arts Fellowship - Composer in Residence at the American Academy in Rome. He has given first performances at several shows including Gaudeamus Music Week Amsterdam, Manca Nice, Aspekte Salzsburg, Time of Music Viitasaari, International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn, MATA Festival New York, Theatre Dunois Paris, Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea di Montepulciano, Finestre sul ‘900, Zèppelin Festival Barcellona, 3èmes Rencontres Musiques Nouvelles Lunel, The New London Wind Festival, International Review of Composers Belgrade, The Brighton Festival London, Melbourne Contemporary Music Festival, Festival di musica elettroacustica "L'interaction homme/machine dans la performance musicale et artistique" Strasbourg, Contemporary Music Festival" Melbourne, Compositori a confronto di DiNuovoMusica, Comporre il nuovo Reggio Emilia.
He worked as co-composer and performer of the music of the monologue by D. Villatico "Voi che ascoltate" (Venice, Ateneo Veneto and Theatre La Fenice - Sala delle Esposizioni - February 2005). He has studied Orchestral Conductorship with Emilio Pomarico at the International Music Academy (Milan) and with Sylvain Cambrelling at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz.
Filippo Perocco is founder, conductor and artistic and musical director of the Contemporary Music Ensemble L'Arsenale.
