Francesca Cescon | transverse flute
Francesca Cascon was born in 1979 in Calcutta. She studied transverse flute under the direction of Maestro E. Caroli at the Conservatoire "B. Marcello" of Venice, where she obtained a first-class degree in 1999. She improved her performance by studying with Maestro's like M. Larrieu, C. Klemm, J. Wion, M. Ancillotti and R. Trevisani. She obtained her degree at the Flute Academy in Imola under the supervision of Glauco Cambursano. Since several years she is participating in concerts, as a soloist as well as in chamber ensembles, and she has been awarded prizes at national and international contests. Dedicating herself to contemporary music, in September 2002 she participated at the Course for specialization in contemporary music guided by Roberto Fabbriciani and organized by the ‘Gruppo Aperto Musica Oggi' (GAMO). The same organization invited her to perform as a soloist in a concert in Florence in November 2003. She frequented the two-year course of contemporary performances under the supervision of Annamaria Morini at the Conservatoire of Bologna from 2002 until 2004.
In March 2003 she graduated in Literature with a Ba-thesis about the Venetian musician Luigi Nono. In March 2007 she obtained a Master degree in Musicology. In august 2003 she performed music written by the composer Carlo Denti, as a member of the "Quartetto Aulos" created by Maestro Fabbriciani. In March 2004 she performed with the Ensemble Venezia in the Wiener Saal of the Mozarteum in Salzburg on the occasion of the international exchange between this institute and the Conservatoire "B. Marcello" in Venice. In April 2004 she performed some of her compositions as a finalist of the international composition contest "WOMEN COMPOSERS" at the Giorgio Cini foundation in Venice. In October 2004 she participated at the "Nuove musiche d'Europa" concert on the occasion of the inauguration of the Sala Rossi at the Fenice Theatre in Venice. In February 2005 she played as a soloist with the orchestra of this theatre in the popular project "Concerti in Conservatorio".
She was first flute in the Regional Orchestra of the Conservatories of Veneto under the supervision of Maestro Donato Renzetti. She has completed a Biennial course of a high level with a first-class degree under the guidance of Federica Lotti. She followed the course of Mario Caroli in Metz for Acanthes 2006, performing in the final concert. She was chosen to participate in the Masterclass organised by Klangforum Wien at the Biennale Musica in Venice 2006 and she has been selected to take part in the Summer Academy organised by the Recherche Ensemble in Freiburg, Germany.
In Bologna she was chosen to participate in the contemporary music course organised by the FontanaMix Ensemble. At this moment she collaborates with this group, directed by Francesco Al Licata, and she is a member of the Arsenale Ensemble, directed by Filippo Perocco.
