Francesco Socal | clarinet
Francesco Socal concluded the Biennial Course for clarinet at Castelfranco Veneto under the supervision of Maestro Scalabrin, obtaining a first-class degree with his thesis ‘The living clarinet', in which he studied the language and techniques of the modern clarinet.
He holds the chair of Clarinet at the musical Lyceum Manzato in Treviso and plays in classical, jazz, ethnical and rock groups.
Together with pianist Giovanni De Cecco he forms the Sebes Duo performing (in Italy as well as abroad) romantic music and traditional Romanian folk music as well as klezmer music. The duo has been awarded in numerous chamber music contests.
Since 2005 he is one of the members of the contemporary music ensemble ‘Arsenale', directed by Filippo Perocco. The ensemble not only performs works of contemporary composers, but also those of young promising composers.
Furthermore he is a member of numerous chamber music ensembles and he is co-founder of the association ‘Suonar da Camera' (Venice). He has performed the Symphony Concertante of Mozart K. 297b and the Concert for clarinet in b-moll of Johann Stamitz as a soloist with orchestra.
At this moment he collaborates with the orchestra Toti dal Monte, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Veneto, with the Quadrivium Ensemble, with the Musici Veneziani and with the Italian Orchestra for light music.
With the group ‘Don Ciccio Philharmonic Orchestra' he won the Arezzo Wave 2004. Furthermore he was a finalist in the Rock Targato Italia and he has finished working on his first album in 2008.
Finally he collaborates with the Venice Hot Jazz Band, with the Mocambo Swing Trio, with the Rummellai, with the Cabarest, with Erica Boschiero, with the Orchestra Popolare di Venice and with Tony Green and he is clarinettist and singer in the gipsy-swing duo Casaccio-socal.
