Paolo Bacchin

Paolo Bacchin | trumpet

Paolo Bacchin was born in Soave (Verona) in 1973. After obtaining his degree at the Conservatoire "C. Pollini" in Padua and at the "Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale" in Saluzzo under the direction of Maestro P. Thibaut, he has studied at the Conservatoire of La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), where he obtained a diploma of specialization in 1998. In 2002 he followed a Master in Trumpet under the guidance of Maestro F. Damrow, and, in 2003, he followed another Master in Baroc trumpet under the guidance of Maestro F. Immer at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
After being awarded the "Premio Bela Siki" and the "Prix Superior Interregional", in 2002 he won the First Price at the International Contest in Halle (Germany).
From 2000 to 2002 he was a member of the "Ensemble voor Nieuwe Muziek", an ensemble focused on spreading new contemporary music. For orchestral production and registration he collaborated with several orchestras and chamber music groups, including Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam, Freiburg Barok Orkest, La Stagione Frankfurt, Le gout étranger, Solamente Naturali, Musica ad Rhenum, Ensemble Matheus, Trompete Consort Friedemann Immer, Les Perruques d'Amsterdam, Haydn Sinfonietta Wien, Cantate Domino, Ars Cantica, Ensemble 415, Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble, L'Arsenale, I Soloisti Veneti, Orchestre Simphonique de Bienne, Orchestre de Chambre de Neufchâtel, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta and Orchestra del Teatro "La Fenice".
As a soloist he performs many concerto's, cantata's and oratorio's of Baroque composers (G.F.Haendel, G.P.Telemann, T.Albinoni, J.F.Fasch), as well as the Brandenburg Concertos of J.S. Bach and the Concerto for key trumpet of J. Haydn.
The composer A.Fontemaggi wrote especially for him a sonata for trumpet and harpsichord (performed in March and May 2002) and a piece for slide trumpet and harpsichord (performed in June 2003).
Paolo has held some conferences and demonstrations on the baroque trumpet, the slide trumpet and the key trumpet in Valladolid (Spain) during the International Music Course "La Interpretacion Historica", and in Mexico City at the Escuela Nacional de Musica, part of the National Autonome University of Mexico (UNAM). During the academic year 2005/2006 he gave courses in ‘natural trumpet' and ‘history and literature of trumpet' at the Conservatoire ‘J. Tomadini' in Udine.
